Very few people are aware of the fact that ‘King Khan’ underwent a phase of depression after his shoulder surgery, the reason being pain and pressure to remain active and fit.
He was born on 2 November 1965, in New Delhi. He spent his first five years of his life in Mangalore, where his maternal grandfather, Iftikhar Ahmed, served as Chief Engineer of the port in 1960. According to King Khan his paternal grandfather, Jan Muhammad was from Afghanistan.
In New Delhi, his father used to run a tea canteen in National School of Drama, Delhi. Shahrukh also used to sit with his father in the canteen. There he used to get a chance to meet some of the famous actors and get inspiration from them. He lived in a rented apartment but he was very happy with his family.
But in 1981, his father Taj Mohammad Khan expired. Due to which his sister lost her sanity. Now it was only Shahrukh to hold all the responsibility of his family. In 1981, he got admission in Hansraj College of Delhi University. Along with his studies, he also used to do small jobs to take care of his family. Side by side he also used to do Drama and Stage shows, by which he got famous for doing mimicry of famous actors like Amitabh Bachan and Dilip Kumar. He was trying to do well in his life but again a casualty took place. In 1991, his mother Lateef Fatima Khan also expired.
After all that, he took admission for mass communication in Jamia Milla College, New Delhi, But he was more passionate for acting, for which he left mass communication course and took admission in National School of Drama, Delhi. He got more learning under theater, director Barry Jone.
During his struggling days, he also slept outside the Oberoi Hotel, Mumbai for one whole night. With tears in his eyes, he saw in the sky and said, ‘’Mumbai tune mujhe bhot presan kra hai, ek din main tujhe jeet lunga’’. Which later came to true as we all know now.
His acting career started with his appearance in some television series. He made his first Bollywood debut in 1992 with ‘’Deewana’’ movie. By all his struggle and hard work, now he is known as ‘’King Khan’’ or ‘’Badshah of Bollywood ‘’. A big salute to Mr. King Khan for his hard work and struggle.
