Unstoppable Man with Big Dreams: Boman Irani

‘You are never too old to set another goal or to dream a new dream!’

‘If there is passion in your heart and fire in your belly there is no one who can stop you from moving Forward’.

These two lines are the perfect definition for ‘Boman Irani’.

Boman Irani was born on 2 December 1959 in Mumbai. Boman Irani’s mom was passionate about watching movies. Boman also used to sit with her mom while she was watching a movie through which he got little interested in film industry. So, at the age of 19, he decided to do a waiter course and started searching for a job. By all this, he got a job in ‘Taj Palace’ where he worked as a waiter and room service. After a few years, he decided to help her mom to handle there family bakery shop and left Taj Palace job.

But soon after that, he got bored from working in the shop and hence decided to follow his passion (Photography). He started collecting tips from the customer in the bakery into his piggy bank and purchases a brand new camera and started following his passion to make a career in photography. As a beginner, he only got work in school events or small sports events. He worked like this for 7 years. He also got married in between these 7 years.

One day Boman Irani went on a holiday trip with his family to Ooty. He booked a cheap hotel ‘’Shawham Palace’’ which was looking great on the website. When they reached that hotel, it was an unsatisfactory experience for them. It was very dark in the room and there was only a ‘0-watt bulb’ in the room which was very shameful for Boman in front of his wife and children. At that time he thought ‘I won’t see such zero number movement again in my life’.

After the vacation, when he reached back to Mumbai he started his hard work, for which he got a chance to be an official photographer in an international boxing match. After this, at the age of 33, he set up his own photo studio. One day Shiamak Davas came to his studio for a photoshoot. After the photoshoot, Shiamak Davas takes the contact detail of Boman Irani and said: “One day my boy you will be a big star”.



He got inspired by those words of Shiamak Davas so, side by side he started learning acting and started doing theatre. Shiamak Davas started suggesting roles to Boman Irani but he rejected the roles because he was not satisfied with those entire roles which were suggested to him. At the age 44 years, he finally made a debut with Rajkumar Hirani in ‘’Munna Bhai M.B.B.S’’ movie. Boman Irani was not expecting good results from this movie but he was wrong, after the release of this movie, within 1 week Boman Irani got an award for his role in the movie.

This was only starting, after this, he also worked in other movies like Lage Raho Munna Bhai, Don2, 3Idiots, Dilwale, and now he is a well-known celebrity of Bollywood industry. Boman Irani said ‘’A 0 Number bulb movement is necessary for every person to attain success’’.
